I've never been to The Liffey in the Old Town before. Though I don't drink, I appreciate #pubs because I can sit there and read for hours while waiting for a gig (like now) or when I'm in a strange city and my accommodation is lonely and dreary.

I am not a fan of most craft beer, I usually end up drinking lager if there's only IPA/APA/citrus/weird flavours etc.
I'm going up the George today.
For those of you not from Portsmouth, 'going up the George' is not a dodgy euphemism but rather walking up Portsdown Hill to one of the best old pubs in the area.
Having a couple of drinks with a work colleague.

Most of us just write graffiti in the bathroom stall. This guy makes a miniature of every Edinburgh pub he visits (without the wee passed-oot drunks at the front)
Two of these are local to me - the Barony I think of as "the local" though I have to walk past three pubs (including the Cask & Barrel) to get to it. Edinburgh has very many excellent pubs! Which I'm doing my best to keep in business ... ;)

Here's my question:
Why do we (UK residents) call them Beer Gardens?
Do other countries have a similar word?
Why isn't Pub Garden used instead?

BBC: Tray bien! Man’s 1,500-strong beer memorabilia haul. “Meet Richard Percival, the man who owns what he thinks is the world’s largest collection of brewery trays. The football fan, who supports Notts County, was on an away day in Brighton in 1982 when he asked if he could keep a Young’s Brewery tray with a ram logo at a pub – which led to him becoming ‘an absolute magpie in both senses’, […]
