I came across this interesting feature, apparently shear stress of some sort between layers in sandstone in the northern Rhinogydd range in Eryri. The face is part of a long-abandoned manganese mine.

Can someone please provide a good explanation?

The photo shows a group of cracked rocks on Babia Góra Mountain. The rocks occupy more than half of the lower right corner of the photograph. The rest of the photo is an intensely blue, cloudless sky. To the left of the rocks, in the lower left corner, you can see several small, wind-beaten spruce trees, and behind them, forested mountains. In the foreground, just below the rocks, there is still snow. In the upper part of the rocks you can see interesting white ice formations, created by strong winds.

I find #rocks very inspiring. They make wonder about algorithms. Also fascinating to think how shapes repeat across various mediums. For instance, I imagine seeing this as soap bubbles.
