Mashable: More KFC, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut locations will get AI-powered drive-thru ordering. “You might want to become familiar with the Taco Bell mobile app. That’s because parent company Yum! Brands are rolling out an AI chatbot that you’ll use to order at the drive-thru at 500 Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and KFC locations in the second quarter of 2025, according to a company press release.”

Restaurant designers are wok-ing hard to bring Maricopa a second helping of fast-food orange chicken.  InMaricopa first announced Rosemead, Calif.-based Panda Express wants to build a second location on Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway in July. This week, Panda No. 2 took another step forward.  Monterey Park, Calif. design firm Gary Wang & Associates last week submitted site plans and elevations for the 2,700-square-foot drive-thru restaurant planned to be built just west of The Home Depot near Stonegate

So I went through the #TacoBell drive-thru for a late lunch today and it was painfully obvious that the voice that was taking my order was a bloody #AI. It may as well have greeted me with "Welcome to the uncanny valley, may I take your order?"

Something tells me I won't be going back there nearly as often, if at all.

So I ran to Taco Bell today and noticed they have chicken nuggets on the menu, which I had to try.

They look different than other nuggets with their coating. They're actually not bad-- not the best I've ever had, nor the worst-- which belongs to KFC.

Seems odd coming from Taco Bell.

Taco Bell *used* to have a fantastic chicken taco, until they messed with it by constantly adding additional ingrediants, such as sour cream or chipotle sauce-- none of which it needed, then they removed it from the menu years ago.
