#AMD #Ryzen9000 vs. #Intel #CoreUltra #ArrowLake On #Linux For Q1-2025 In ~400 Benchmarks
In cases where #AVX512 can be utilized, the Ryzen 9000 series is the definitive winner over the Intel Core Ultra Series 2 desktop processors. In some HPC applications the Core Ultra 9 285K with 24 physical cores does well in scenarios where SMP isn't leveraged.
Overall the #Zen5 based #Ryzen9 #9950X straight-up won 50% of the time with a first place finish.

From my perspective, the #RyzenAI HX 390 MAX series has a very bad value proposition over $1,000.

- For #Gaming, you have RTX 4060M **LAPTOPS** at $800 with a decent CPU.
- For #AI, you can make a good PC for $1,500.
- For battery life, there is a thing called a MacBook.

That's probably why they're not being pushed to the market so hard. Pricing wise, it doesn't make sense.

Healthy Competition With #GCC15 vs. #LLVM #Clang20 Performance On #AMD #Zen5
With some codebases/workloads there can be strong advantages at time for one compiler over the other, but at a high level the #GCC and Clang #compiler performance is extremely tight with recent versions and on modern #x86_64 hardware.

SMT Remains Very Advantageous For #Zen5 #AMD #EPYC Performance
#SMT typically was of measurable benefit to the 5th Gen AMD EPYC processor with the exception of some #HPC workloads that perform better with SMT disabled or otherwise limited by memory bandwidth. SMT also hurt the OpenVINO inference latency but by and large Simultaneous Multi-Threading remains an important and valuable feature for AMD processors.

Not here to bash the #Radeon 8060, but it trades blows with an 2023 laptop with an #RTX 4060, and tanks with #RayTracing.

The Max+ 395, aside from the bad name, it's not a bad chip. The problem? Until it doesn't hit below $1,000, an RTX will be better.

Nothing new from the #AMD Graphics division. They always set the price wrong.
