Working on our Beowulf studies today. Background: we are doing world history chronologically (more on that in another post) and are currently studying the steppes civilizations, the early Islamic empire, the Silk Road, and the Byzantines, and are in the era of 800-1000s. I like to connect our English reading to history, hence Beowulf, which was thought to be written in the 6th century, maybe later:
