Today in Lowpass: Amazon's new Alexa+ assistant will launch without many of the 160,000 skills available on the original Alexa. Voice developers are worried. https://www.lowpass.cc/p/amazon-alex-plus-skills-missing-voice-developer-worries
Amazon has largely kept mum on what will happen to skills on Alexa+, but a company spokesperson for the first time outlined a transition plan in a statement sent to Lowpass. https://www.lowpass.cc/p/amazon-alex-plus-skills-missing-voice-developer-worries
According to that plan, voice developers will be able to request the inclusion of their skills on Alexa+ ... as will users:
"If there are any skills customers want added that are not supported, they can let us know and we’ll work to enable them on Alexa+." https://www.lowpass.cc/p/amazon-alex-plus-skills-missing-voice-developer-worries
Some of the developers I talked to nonetheless bemoan the loss of existing APIs, as well as Amazon's neglect of the existing skills store. "Less people are working on that, and it is no longer relevant to them," I was told by one developer. https://www.lowpass.cc/p/amazon-alex-plus-skills-missing-voice-developer-worries
