Last week, we took down a single #larch log from a windthrow like in good old times. I’m really pleased with the yield of fence posts from that tree. We cut the first three lengths into quarters using our bandsaw (woodland mill), halved another three with my chainsaw, left two lengths round, and cut the rest of the top into firewood.
The posts are between 2.2 and 2.4 meters long—solid and just the right size. Over the past week, I’ve been chopping away the sapwood with an axe. Definitely saved myself a trip to the gym with that one!
