Welcome to the April 26th BikeNite! Thanks for joining, and I hope we all enjoy chatting about cycle stuff! Feel free to answer whenever at your convenience. Anyone can join, now or later. Reply to what you like, and boost for visibility.
We'll start out with our introduction:
Q1. Where are you posting from today? Have you experienced or thought about any cycle-related milestones lately? Past, present, or future. Number of trips, distance, location, type of ride, etc?
A1. Hello from Oakland, CA! A milestone that I thought of earlier today is that if we bride with our child nearly every day to elementary school and back, it'll be about 2000 trips minimum by the time they've moved on to the next school.
@ascentale #BikeNite A1 We're posting from rural unincorporated Monterey County, where we've lived since 1981 (despite #MontereyCountyWeekly again saying on 4/25/24 that we're from Salinas). https://www.montereycountynow.com/opinion/letters/letters-to-the-editor-04-25-24/article_1115ebd6-027e-11ef-b88e-5fee85bdfa47.html Nope, never lived in our county seat and largest city, Salinas. We can only guess MCW continues to think so because we do like to bike there, and we've done much bike advocacy in Salinas over the past 15 years. https://bikemonterey.org/tips-for-tourists/salinas-the-monterey-county-seat
As to your question about any cycle-related milestones we've thought about lately, e.g., type of ride, we were thinking about that just today. Why? Because we sorely (pun appropriate!) need a new bike, and we'd love to have a #TernBicycles NBD after seeing one at Sea Otter Classic last week. https://bikemonterey.org/scenes-from-sea-otter-classic-2024.html#TernSOC2024
@ascentale still in South SF Bay Area (or the greater San Jose area, if you prefer).
I too rarely consider milestones other than in retrospect, but as of the past week I have apparently biked 1250km for the year.
Also, over the past 3 weeks, I biked to work 14 days (and worked from home one day).
I don't think I'll ever get around to a "bike for 30 days" goal since I frequently don't go anywhere at least one day each weekend, but a more realistic option for me would be "bike to work every weekday for a month".
