Being a transgender woman is not just the fun and games of seeing a man in the mirror sometimes and cringing, or seeing your bald spot, or getting sirred despite practically wearing a sign saying I'm a woman. Oh no! It gets way better! Like paying hundreds of dollars per hour to have whiskers and pubic hairs cauterized one by one in excruciating pain. #livingthelife #trans #electrolysis
Oh sweetie, you forgot about the joy of fighting the insurance company to reimburse less than half the total cost of the electrolysis that they explicitly authorized! That is pure joy! #livingthelife #trans #electrolysis
That's right, and having to log into the insurance companies portal using the name I abandoned a year and a half ago by legally changing it because apparently their systems require hammers, chisels, TIPs, TPS reports, Jira tickets, escalations, and I guess an act of the board of directors to change. Seriously, I tried to change it, a Jira ticket was opened and the rep bought someone from IT on the line to say they'd look into it. Nothing happened. #livingthelife #trans #electrolysis
We're so privileged to have such opportunities to be happy and joyful and to sing and dance in glee. #livingthelife #trans #electrolysis
Seriously, it sucks. It sucks hard. I wish I were cis, but I simply could not be happy. I was increasingly bitter and angry in truth.
Despite the insurance industry conspiring to deny trans benefits, the expensive and painful treatments, hours of paperwork to get other treatments, and the agony of seeing the old me in the mirror. It is worth it to be actually happy. Even if a little bitter sometimes. #livingthelife #trans #electrolysis
