The pre-fab Aluminaire House was moved to downtown Palm Springs in 2024. "Designed by then-budding architects Albert Frey and Lawrence Kocher (eventual pioneers of desert modernism) — made its debut at the 1931 Allied Arts and Building Products Exhibition at Grand Central Palace in New York City and, ironically, embodies eternally utopian principles for living."

Because it does not meet US codes for disability access, the interior is off limits to the public.

In the early 1960s, it was a #midcentury modern #Caturday.

Black-and-white photograph of a long-haired black cat curled up in a circular, upholstered midcentury Danish-modern style lounge chair, which itself is standing in the corner of a room with plain white walls. The photograph is slightly out of focus, so few details of the cat are visible except for its two luminous eyes. The image is a scan of an old photograph, and the white border of the original print remains visible.

In my second year of potting, I am trying to repeat pieces that were somewhat successful. After a couple of missteps, I was able to remake my #midcentury style vase - this time in Blue Yonder.

"Eames plywood chairs exhibit a functional and sculptural, harmoniously simple design that flexes to fit the sitter through pivoting rubber shock-mount connections. Developed from 1943–48 by Evans Products’ Molded Plywood Division, the project was based initially on a conventional, single-piece seat and back. A two-piece design proved more practical and cost effective, with separate seats and backs formed from sheets of wooden veneer that were glued and pressed between heated steel and plaster molds. Molded plywood chairs were available in ash, birch, rosewood, and walnut veneers in natural, red, or black finishes, or upholstered in a variety of animal hides, fabric, leather, or Naugahyde vinyl."
